Moving is about purging right? Well, one of the badass things I discovered in my hard drive purge was my massive archive of AIM buddy icons that I had download back from the dark ages before everyone’s buddy icon was just a picture of them. (Thanks for inventing the built-in webcam, Apple!) I wasn’t completely able to ID the names of all these characters, but found some hilarious sites along the way. Like, did you know there’s a Rainbow Brite wiki? Coincidentally, that’s also how I found out they turned Rainbow Brite into a whore in recent iterations of that beloved cartoon. There’s also a hilarious entry about CareBears on Uncyclopedia that says things like, ”Love-a-lot spreads love everywhere she goes, along with whatever else she has to spread. She is also perky and happy. Love-a-lot bear is very popular, especially with immature frat-boys looking for the ‘real thing’. This bear should have a condom on her chest.“ Anyway, my collection is a pretty good time capsule of the ridiculous obsessions of my middle and high school years (and maybe a little of college if you really want to cringe). Lots of 80s throwback BEFORE it was cool, adorable things, and dudes I was crushing on. Enjoy.
Oh and if you can’t tell, a lot of these are from OriginalIcons.com, a lovely site that is miraculously still in business putting their not-so-cute logo on their buddy icons.

wow. we could have been such good friends in middle/high school. judging compatibility based on aim icons, anyway. i may have had that exact pochacco pic with the flippy ears.
